Round Beds UK: Sizes, Mattresses and Room Planning

A round bed creates a circular sleeping area and needs different room planning from a rectangular bed. Stratus Interiors offers the 72-inch Orbis and Globe round beds with a matching round mattress and professional fitting included.

What size is a Stratus round bed?

Both models have a listed 72-inch sleeping-surface diameter: 6ft, or approximately 183cm. This is the mattress measurement, not the complete upholstered footprint. Ask our team for the full assembled frame dimensions and headboard height before planning the room.

Orbis or Globe: which design should you choose?

Detail Orbis Globe
Headboard style Vertical upholstered channels Deep-buttoned Chesterfield upholstery
Sleeping-surface diameter 72 inches 72 inches
Mattress Matching round pocket memory-foam mattress included Matching round pocket memory-foam mattress included
Fitting Professional fitting included Professional fitting included

Choose Orbis for a clean panelled finish or Globe for traditional button detailing. Both product listings offer 12 upholstery colours.

How much room do you need?

Start with the full assembled frame dimensions. Mark the footprint on the floor with tape, including the headboard projection. Check that bedroom doors, wardrobes and drawers can open and that you can move comfortably around the bed.

For example, a hypothetical 210cm-wide assembled frame with 60cm of walking space on each side needs 330cm of clear room width. This is a planning example, not an Orbis or Globe measurement. Your room layout and access needs determine the clearance you should allow.

Can you use a standard mattress or fitted sheet?

A standard rectangular mattress will not match a circular base. These two Stratus models include a round mattress. Check the mattress diameter and depth when sourcing fitted bedding; do not assume standard double, king or super king sheets will fit.

Will a round bed fit through the doorway?

These models are built in sections to help with access. Sectional construction does not guarantee that every access route is suitable. Measure doorway openings, stair turns, landings and any lift, then ask for the largest delivery-piece dimensions before ordering.
